This week I began taking vitamin supplements to help with the symptom of Lipedema.

***this is not meant as medical advice, this is what I am trying***

I began taking Turmeric, Ginger Root, Butcher’s Broom, and Milk Thistle. –sounds like a Fairy Tale of vitamins

It has only been a few days since starting the vitamins, I will update this post as to if I notice any changes or improvements.

Hi, I just came across your posting. I have lipedema and lymphedema and I can’t believe that any vitamin is going to help you. I had gastric bypass in 2001 and I am on plenty of vitamins for that and also have to deal with breast cancer treatments and surgery since then. The only way I was able to get some relief for the lipedema in my legs, was to have surgery. I found a doctor who does surgery for lipedema. It took a while before I was able to have it, but in spite of what anyone says, it is worth it. My legs still have the lipedma bulges, but they are half the size of what I had. I have no issues now not being able to walk. It is well worth it. It was also paid by my insurance company. They said it was medically necessary. You might want to look into that.

Thank you for the comment. My expectations of the supplements is to relieve a bit of the underlying symptoms, I know they will not reduce the over lipedema tissue. I have had surgery twice on my arms (covered by insurance), and the lipedema tissue returned, given that my legs also are affected by lymphedema I am not ready to risk any type of surgery on my legs that may cause more damage. I had great improvement with MLD and compression for the lymphedema.

        Hi,

I am a stage 3 lipedema patient. I live in Orlando and am desperately looking for an experienced and qualified doctor to have WAL ( water assisted Liposuction) done. I understand you are active in area of Lipedema and Lymphedema. Do you happen to know any resource about doctors who perform water assisted liposuction, specifically designed for lipedema patients. I have called many plastic surgeons in my network and they are not familiar with lipedema.

        Thanks.

WAL is not something I’m pursuing so I do not know of a lot of resources. However, there was a surgeon in Georgia name Dr. Byrd, however most are not in network. From what I heard you have to pay up front then submit the claim to your insurance company for reimbursement.

I came across your postings while reading about lipedema. I read about selenium as a possible supplement.
    Have you tried it?
I am new at this and would like to
know what type of doctors have helped you. I too have had a bypass.
