The central oval piece is a cameo, which is a method of carving an object such as a gemstone or shell with a raised design in low relief, where the raised design and the background consist of layers of contrasting colors. The design here is a white flower against a deep blue background. There is not a clasp as you just put this necklace over your head. If you don't like the chain that it's on, it could easily be switched out, but this is a nice chain. The necklace is 28in excluding the pendant. This is a stunning piece and I couldn't find anything else like it online.
